A 2:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Charles Penley officiating.
A Rockingham County native, Nellie was born September 10, 1917, the daughter of Richard Brantley and Cora Hodge Atkins. She was a member of Mayodan United Methodist Church and retired from Washington Mills with over 40 years of service.
In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Troy Hall, 2nd husband Bill Hensdale; three sisters, Peggy Atkins, Ruby Shelton and Margaret Fortune; two brothers, J.B. and Roy Atkins.
Nellie survived by her daughter, Linda Rogers and husband Jerry of Madison; four sisters, Shirley Montgomery and husband Donnie, Libby Williams and husband Norman, Frances Martin and Teeny Atkins ; one brother Michael Atkins and wife Ann all of Mayodan; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Ray Funeral Home and other times at the home of Linda and Jerry Rogers. Online condolences may be sent to www.rayfuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Mayodan United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 219, Mayodan, N.C. 27027.
