Arlys V. Staats was called to her heavenly home at the age of 89 on Monday, March 4, 2013. She left this world peacefully at the Homestead Care Center, New Holstein. Arlys was born on January 7, 1924 to William & Mabel (Clare) Miller in Minnesota, and was fostered by Edith & Paul Graff of Jacksonport. She was a graduate of Sevastopol High School. On December 8, 1945 she married Harold Staats at St. John Lutheran Church, Valmy, WI. Harold preceded her in death on July 23, 2012. Arlys was a stay at home mom to her six children and worked at various jobs throughout her life. She provided child care for her grandkids, as well as neighbors for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, Arlys and Harold were members of the Antique Steam Engine Club and The Thresheree Club in Door County. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren & great grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, canvas & cross stitch and playing bingo. Survivors include her six children. Maynard (Carol) Staats of Sturgeon Bay, Ronald (Joan) Staats of Kiel, Sharon (Larry) Wodack of North Fond du Lac, Lynn (Chuck) Sabel of Kiel, Betty (Tom) Ruppenthal of Hilbert, Beverly Lisowe of New Holstein, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 adopted grandchildren, She is also survived by two sisters; Harriet Holst & Alice Sorbel, in-laws; Irene Graff, Earl (Joan) Staats, Marie Vertz & Rose Staats, numerous nieces & nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents & foster parents, one grandchild, Connie Wodack, one great grandchild, Alexis Braun, one adopted grandchild, Russell Dietsche, one brother, LeRoy Graff, one sister, Eunice (Robert) Steinle and in-laws: Ernest (Gladys) Staats, Lloyd Staats, Clarence Vertz, Harold Holst, and her mother & father-in-law; Albert & Mamie Staats. Funeral services for Arlys will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, March 8, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 387 Cemetery Road, Kiel, WI. with Rev. Jeremy Cares officiating.Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Arlys' family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at both Calumet Medical Center, Chilton and Homestead Care Center, New Holstein and Dr. Gene Tipler for the wonderful care she received. Also, thanks to the senior helpers who took care of Arlys at her home
