ERMA M. LEUTBECKER age 91.

Passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 in Arlington, Virginia. Beloved wife of the late Gustav Leutbecker, daughter of the late Ula and Iner Carlson and sister of the late Norman Carlson.

Loving mother of Kenneth (Patricia) and Mark (Gay) Leutbecker. Beloved sister in law of Elaine Sufka and cousin of Tina Brown. Loving grandmother of Darin (Leslie), Michael, Christopher, Corey, David and Molly and great-grandchildren Anya and William. Loving aunt of Kevin, Keith and David Sufka and many other family members. Erma was loved by many friends in Ohio, Virginia and other parts of the United States.

Born on October 18, 1921 in Canton, Ohio she moved to Cleveland in 1933 and Arlington in 2009. Erma and Gus were married on October 18, 1941, nine months prior to Gus' induction into the Army Air Forces. Erma loved her career as an elementary school librarian and in retirement devoted much time to family, friends, her church and teaching adults how to read and write.

Erma and Gus were founding members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mayfield Heights and she attended St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Arlington. Erma will be remembered as a loyal friend and for her compassion, fierce independence, grit, determination and her lifelong love of reading, politics, the arts and music. Contributions may be made in Erma's memory to Project Learn, Lutheran World Relief or Vitas Hospice Care of Northern Virginia. Funeral Services 10 AM Saturday October 12 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2154 SOM Ctr. Rd. Mayfield Hts. OH 44124 ( Please meet at Church). Interment Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 5975 MAYFIELD RD. MAYFIELD HTS. (at Lander Rd.) Friday 4-8 pm.
