ANTON GOETZ

Anton Goetz (above), 80, of 1602? New York Ave., Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9:30 a.m. at Hoy Innocents Catholic Church. The Rev. E. A. Radey will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Goetz was born in Czechoslovakia April 10, 1878, son of the late John and Mary Panosh Goetz. He came to Manitowoc to join his parents when he was five years old. They had come to Manitowoc the previous year. Mr. Goetz began working in a button factory at Manitowoc at the age of 12 and later was employed in other plants before starting at Rahr Malting Co. in 1900. On May 22, 1901, he married the former Anna K. Wattawa at Manitowoc where the couple located. He retired in June, 1950, after completing 50 years of service with the Rahr Co. without losing a single day's time because of illness. Mr. Goetz was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents Church and the Manitowoc Aerie of Eagles. A daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Thompson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife and son, John of Manitowoc, and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
