Claude E. Goetz, age 76, of 532 N. 8th St,. Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, June 22, 2000, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. David Hoffman and Rev. Richard Klingeisen will officiate. Entombment of his cremated remains will follow at Calvary Mausoleum.

Claude was born August 26, 1923, at Manitowoc, son of the late William and Ella Hennessy Goetz, Claude grew up in Manitowoc attending St. Paul's Catholic Grade School and Lincoln High School. He also attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and Loyola University in Chicago. He was married to Elaine Fogltanz, August 28, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Claude was ordained to the permanent deaconate in the Arch Diocese (sic) of Chicago, in 1975. He served as a deacon at the Transfiguration Parish in Wauconda, Ill., and later at St. Andrew's Parish in Rock Falls, Ill. Claude spent 12 years as village treasurer of Wauconda, Ill. He also was the state auditor for the Department of Transportation of the State of Illinois for 21 years retiring in 1985. Claude and his wife, Elaine moved to Manitowoc in 1989. Claude spent six years in the United States Navy, from 1942 to 1948 serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Claude is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a former member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of Wauconda, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; children include David and Nancy Goetz, Vicki and Larry Carvelli, Allan and Elizabeth Goetz, Claudia and James Ronayne, Steven Goetz, Daniel and Lydia Goetz, Angela and Robert Whitlock, Andrew and Michael Sakoff, Gregory and Dawn Goetz, Barbara and Todd Laffin, Rita and Steve Garvy, Paul Goetz; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Katherine Goetz, Madison, Wis.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marian and William Sepnafski, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John; two brothers, Norman and Harold.

Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
