LASHMEET — Lillie B. Laxton, 81, of Lashmeet, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Princeton. Born Aug. 15, 1925 in Beeson, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Whitfield Shrewsbury and Versie Mae Akers Shrewsbury.
Mrs. Laxton was a member of Cook's Chapel Church at Pinoak. She was a homemaker who liked to take care of her flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Laxton; three brothers, Jessie Shrewsbury, Vessie Shrewsbury and Melvin Shrewsbury; and three sisters, China Clark, Esther Beasley and Rachel Duncan.
Survivors include one son, Keith Laxton and his wife Alese of Lashmeet; one daughter, Dorothy Cecil and her husband Arvin of Lashmeet; one brother, Roby Shrewsbury and his wife Helen of Matoaka; one sister, Bernice Mae Shrewsbury of Matoaka; five grandchildren, Brian Laxton, Craig Laxton, Kimberly Ray, Kenton Cecil and Mylene England; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Donald Dawson, the Rev. Randolph Dishner and Arnold Akers officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Laxton, Brian Laxton, Kenton Cecil, Jim Moshier, Norman Fletcher and Wayne McKenzie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cook's Chapel Church, 200 Laxton Farm Rd., Lashmeet, WV 24733.
Friends may call Wednesday from noon until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
