Lorraine Schmoekel age 95, formerly of 931 Rosemere Circle, Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, January 31, 2013 at River Woods Estates Assisted Living.

The former Lorraine Adler was born on March 24, 1917 at Detroit, MI, daughter of the late Alvin and Anna (Noffke) Adler. She grew up in Detroit and was a 1934 graduate of the High School of Commerce. Following high school she worked in the billing department of Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. in Detroit. On November 22, 1941 Lorraine was married to Charles E. "Charlie" Schmoekel in Detroit. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1968 and Charles preceded her in death on June 23, 2011. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and a past member of the YMCA of Manitowoc/Two Rivers.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in law: Marilyn (Stewart) Gloyer, Richmond, VA; Carol (Mark) Loessel, Macomb, MI; Nancy (Tom) Madej, Montgomery Village, MD; six grandchildren: Karen Gloyer; Paul Gloyer; Christine (Brooks) Carpenter; Sara (Nick) Maddock; David (Leah) Madej; and Hannah Madej; five great grandchildren: Avery Carpenter; Cori Carpenter; Savannah Maddock; Crosby Maddock; and Hazel Madej. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents: Alvin and Anna Adler; her husband: Charles Schmoekel; two brothers: Roy and Robert Adler; and one sister-in-law Ruth Adler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at the First Lutheran Church, 521 N. 8th St. Manitowoc. Ann Unertl, parish nurse will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the Schmoekel family.
