GREENWICH - Jearld J. Adkins, 63, of Greenwich, died Sunday at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.
He was born Oct. 22, 1941 in Meadow Creek, W.Va. He moved to Cleveland in the late 1950's for his job. He had lived in Greenwich for the past 10 years.
He was a miner digging underground tunnels for subways, roads and underground overflows. He loved his family and Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lillian Jane (Smith) Adkins; a son, Jerald Tim Adkins of Greenwich; three grandchildren; his parents, Basil and Pauline (Sereno) Adkins of Cowl, Tenn.; a sister, Wilma Henry of Whitmore, Tenn.; brothers, Basil R. Adkins, Jr. of Michigan, Melvin Adkins of Severville, Tenn., Buford Adkins of Knoxville, Tenn. and Edward Adkins of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Judus, Joseph and Jimmy Adkins.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich where funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday with Buford Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Edwards Grove Cemetery, Edwards Rd., Greenwich.
