Carl August Kappler, youngest son of Andrew Kappler, merchant in Serbin, died at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 8 November 1870 and was buried the next day in St Paul's Cemetery, Serbin, Texas. Pastor Kilian said the standard prayer. Carl died one day and three hours after birth because of weakness. He is survived by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. (Grave digger was Peter Gersch who was paid extra.)
