Funeral services for Dillard O. Duran, a lifelong resident of Cortez, were held April 28, 2004 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pastor Matt Segebart of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiated. Interment followed at the Cortez Cemetery with the Ute Mountain American legion Post #75 conducting Military Services.

Dillard was born December 4, 1941 at Arriola CO, the son of Edward C. and Alma I.(Leslie) Duran. He passed away at his home in Cortez on Thursday, April 21, 2004 at the age of 63.

Dillard proudly served his country in the US Army from 1967 to 1970. He held membership in the American Legion and the VFW. He was a member of the Four Corners Community Band, playing the tuba.

Surviving Dillard are his daughter, Dalena (Joseph)Cross. Two grandsons, and former wife Vickey S. Duran Of Lansing MI. Three sisters, Vivian Duran, Dana Duran and Marlene Duran, nieces and nephews. Special friends Ruth Ann Brown and Linda Luce. Preceding Dillard in death were his three brothers, Eddie Duran, Sidney Duran and Duane Duran, and one sister, Donnis Duran, and both of his parents.

Services were under the direction of Ertel Funeral Home.
