Daughter of Henry B Barton and Malena Mitchell, she first married, Feb 07, 1861 in Woodbine, Knox County, Kentucky, William Barton, S/O Solomon Barton and Susan Dowis. William Barton died Sept. 08, 1862 in Kentucky. They had a daughter Mary E Barton, born about 1862.
The Senate referred to the Committee on Pensions H. R. 1173, a bill granting a pension to Julia A. Barton, widow of William Barton, late a private in Company I, Seventh Regiment Kentucky Volunteers

Julia remarried Sept, 02 1869, George Washington Helton, S/O "George" William Helton and Elizabeth Engle.
