Doris graduated from Douglas College for Women at Rutgers University and became a Registered Dietitian. After serving in England during WWII as a Captain in the US Army, she moved to Memphis to work for the VA at the Kennedy Hospital and later became Director of Food Service at Methodist Hospitals.
She was a member of Buntyn Presbyterian Church for forty years and volunteered extensively in the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Caldwell.
Doris leaves daughters Sara Caldwell, Ellen Caldwell and son-in-law Gary Topper, grandson M. Scott Beaton (Erica) and her great-grandson Samuel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb ruary 15, 3-5 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar. The funeral will be Monday, February 16, at 11 a.m., at Buntyn Presbyterian Church, 561 S. Prescott. Memphis Funeral Home
