Orville Duane Allan, age 86, of Farwell, Michigan, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011, surrounded by his children and caring staff at Prestige Place in Clare, Michigan.

Orville was born in Waterford Township, Oakland County, Michigan, the son of Stanley and Beatrice (Sickles) Allan.

He graduated from Evart High School and married his high school sweetheart Esther Marie Peel on December 18, of the same year. They shared 66 years together until she preceded him in death on June 8, 2009.

Orville served his country in 1945 stationed in Okinawa. He returned to work on the family farm, and also worked many years as a butcher for the Clare Packing Company before owning his own building company and later D&O Dredging.

As a longtime resident of Farwell (Clare County), Michigan, he served on the Village Council and spent many hours in his bountiful garden always willing to share its harvest with others.

Orville enjoyed camping with his family and fishing with his friends.

Time of visitation will occur on Monday, January 31, at 3:00 P.M. at the Farwell Church of Christ and the memorial will follow at 4:00 P.M.

He is survived by his three children; Douglas (Cheryl) and Delores (Barry), all of Farwell (Clare County), Michigan and Darla (Don) Rogers, of Kentwood (Kent County), Michigan; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.
