Clarence was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Maldin, Mo., to Ransom and Flora (Quinn) Cooper. He lived his life there and in Kennet, Mo., until 1950, when he brought his family to Michigan. He had lived in Hartford for the past 58 years. Clarence worked for Whirlpool Corporation for a number of years, worked in construction as part of the crew that built I-94 and later worked for Joe Allen Disposal Company.
Clarence is survived by a daughter, Georgia (Kenneth) Clare of Ellenwood, Ga., a step-daughter, Wilma (Gordon) Bauschke of Coloma; four grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; and three great-great-granddaughters.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine on May 15, 1970; a son, Charles Ray Cooper; a daughter, Barbara Cooper; his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
The family will welcome friends on Monday, Nov. 24, from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. Pastor Tim Langston of the First General Baptist Church of Coloma will officiate. Clarence will then be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford Township. Those wishing to make a memorial in Clarence's name may do so with the South Haven Area Hospice.
