He worked as a professional salesman. He was a druggist, self taught, and operated a drugstore. He was a shoe salesman, elevator operator, and finally sold life insurance. He could sell anything!

Ernest's parents were Henry Delicate (no evidence exists that he had a middle name- or it hasn't been found; sometimes an H is noted, but...); Henry was a methodist circuit rider, minister. Born 8 May 1842, Farham, in south east England, and d. 12 Mar 1882 in Wanda, Illinois in Madison Co. (store had picklebarrel where people would drop the mail, and train would come by and pick up mail--aka Wood River, where Lewis & Clark started expedition). Henry is buried at Wanda Cemetery and has two markers on his grave; one a pointy obelisk/stella(?), a marble column placed at his grave by his parish; old refinery not too far away which put out a lot of acid vapors, so its been pretty well destroyed. Ernest, Scott's grandfather put a footstone with Henry's names and dates on it. Wanda is in Madison Co IL. His findagrave # is 28333051. Farham ENG is to be the place of origin for the Delicate line.

Henry's wife was Harriet ______. [The source of this data for all of these Edwardsville entries is the extremely knowledgeable, elder Wm Scott Delicate (called Scott) of VA with whom I am talking today 1 Nov 2013, via phone call].
