Theisen, Anthony J. "Tony"

Anthony J. "Tony" Theisen age 48 lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and returned to God on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County. He was a great dad, husband, friend and coach to so many. Given the generous way he lived his first 48 years, we are confident he'll be a key player on the big court in heaven. We love you, Tony.

Tony was born to this world on November 2, 1964 at Manitowoc, son of Lynn (Schroeder) Theisen and the late Paul Theisen. He began his life long love of basketball starting at Holy Innocents Grade School and later for Roncalli High School where he graduated in 1983. Tony played basketball as a scholarship athlete for Cal Poly Pomona in California. He graduated in 1987 from Cal Poly Pomona with his bachelor's degree in business administration and was the scholar athlete of his class. Following his graduation from college he joined his brother Tim's environmental firm Optimal Technology. On August 13, 1994 Tony was married to Traci L. Runnfeldt at St. Barbara's Mission in Santa Barbara, CA. The couple relocated to Manitowoc and in 1995 opened Cousin's Sub in the Shopko Mall and later opened a second location in Two Rivers. On March 24, 1997 Tony and Traci's son Logan was born. In the past eight years Tony was associated with Theisen LLC as a commercial real estate agent. When Tony wasn't playing or coaching basketball he was equally competitive on the golf course. He loved to play on his home course, Wander Springs but enjoyed traveling to different courses around the country with his son, dad, brothers and friends. He also enjoyed scuba diving and spending time with his son, Logan and his friends.

Survivors include his wife: Traci Theisen, Manitowoc; his son: Logan Theisen, Manitowoc; his mother: Lynn Theisen, Manitowoc; two brothers: Timothy Theisen, Manitowoc; Thomas Theisen, Maribel; and his special friend: Wendy Naarup, Appleton; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Suzan (Jimmy) Searcy, Santa Barbara, CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Jeff (Lori) Runnfeldt, Tiburon, CA; three nieces: Olivia, Anna and Alli Runnfeldt; one nephew: Michael Stewart; uncles and aunts include: Lee (Mary Ann) Schroeder, Washington D.C.; Steve (Nina) Schroeder, Glencoe, IL; Richard (Linda) Schroeder, Cleveland; Susan (Chuck) Munkwitz, Waukesha; cousins and many friends survive. Tony was preceded in death by his father: Paul Theisen; his father-in-law: Robert Runnfeldt; his maternal grandparents: Leland and Catherine Schroeder and his paternal grandparents: Ervin and Florence Theisen.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi, Waldo site. The Rev. Dave Pleier will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial of his cremated remains to take place later at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Tony's name for the Roncalli Scholarship fund.
