In 1900 he and his parents and seven siblings lived in a house they owned, with a mortgage, in Lower Yoder Township, Cambria County, PA. His father worked as a laborer for a steel company.

In 1910 he and his parents and five siblings lived in probably the same house. His father worked as a music dealer in a music store.

In 1920 he and his parents and two siblings lived in possibly the same house, which was on Edgewood Avenue just outside Johnstown. His father worked as a salesman of road machinery, Frank as a salesman of notions, and he as a craneman in a steel mill.

In 1930 he and his wife and their two children lived in a house they were renting for $45 a month at 310 Pennsylvania Avenue in Cumberland, MD. They did have a radio. He worked as a branch manager for a furnace company.

In 1940 the four of them lived in a duplex they were renting for $30 a month at 411 Pearl Street in Lancaster, PA. He worked as a heating salesman, with an income in 1939 of $1300 for 52 weeks of work.
