ALLEN Mr. Floyd Richard Allen, age 85, of Fairfield, a retired production supervisor for Borden's Dairy in Stratford, died on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Cambridge Manor. Born in the Devon section of Milford, the son of the late Louis R. and Alice L. Allen, he had been a Fairfield resident for over 50 years. Mr. Allen was educated in the Bridgeport school system, and served in the First Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II in the Italian and African Campaigns. He received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Clusters and the Bronze Star for bravery, and was wounded in battle four times. Mr. Allen was the oldest Past Master of Ashlar-Aspetuck Lodge 142 A.F. & A. M. and a member of the Lafayette Consistory. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fairfield. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Naomi Martin Allen of Fairfield; a son, Richard Allen, and his wife, Sally, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; a daughter, Virginia Swem, and her husband, William, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Karolyn, and her husband, James Periera, of Danbury, Christopher, and his wife, Lisa, of Danbury, and Joseph Allen, of Danbury; a sister-in-law, Marion Allen, of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert E. Allen. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will be private in Lawncroft Cemetery. Calling hours have been omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, or to the charity of one's choice.
