Madison-Marvin Dorak, age 87, passed away peacefully at U.W. Hospital on Sept. 20, 2012. His wife was at his side.

He was born July 27, 1925 in Sheboygan, Wis., the son of Adolph and Lydia (Lockstein) Dorak. He married June March on April 23, 1949 at Gesu Catholic Church in Milwaukee. June died in 1991. He married Helen Wayland on May 20, 2000 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Madison.

Marvin was employed by Kaufman Manufacturing Co., Manitowoc, in 1952, as Chief Engineer. In 1975 he was named Vice President-Engineering. He held U.S. and foreign patents in the area of metal threading. He retired in 1989.

Marvin was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Madison and St. Maximilian Kolbe, Almond, Wis. He was also a member of Madison Golden K Kiwanis, Elks Club and the Technical Club of Madison. He was a member of the Wisconsin Voyagers for 15 years.

He enjoyed boating and water skiing with his family. He was at all their football games and swimming events. He enjoyed travelling, especially motorhome travel.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; a daughter Mary (James) Clark, LaCrosse, Wis.; a son Donald Dorak, San Antonio, Tex., two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Helen's family; Maureen (Dr. Jeffrey) Michelman, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; Kathleen (Mark) Garwick, McFarland, Wis.; Michael (Barbara) Wayland, Monticello, Wis.; Therese (Rick) Gitzke, Verona, Wis.; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, June, and their son David John (1973); and two brothers, Melvin and Milton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5405 Flad Ave., Madison. Father Chad Droessler will officiate. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of Service at the church.

A short graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Maria Goretti Church or the charity of the donor's choice .

Marvin and Helen have been most appreciative of the medical care he received from the Physicians and Nurses at U.W. Hospital and Clinics.
