Thomas Liggett 3d, 91, a retired chemical engineer, died Saturday, February 1, 2003.
Mr. Liggett was born in New Castle, Pa. He grew up in Jenkintown and graduated from Jenkintown High School.
After earning a degree in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in 1934, he became a traveling inspector for Union Carbide Co. He later worked on a synthetic-rubber project for Koppers Co. in Western Pennsylvania.
In the 1950s, he was an instructor in chemical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh.
From 1960 until he retired in 1977, Mr. Liggett was an engineer for the federal government at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Md.
He and his wife, Eleanor Dustin Liggett, moved to Rydal Park in 1988.
Mr. Liggett was a life member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown. He also was a member of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Chemical Society.
