Emily "Gram-Cracker" Root, age 93, who resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Rick Meidl at 1830 South 35th Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Monday morning, November 28, 2011 at her daughter's residence.

Emily was born on March 16, 1918 in Manitowoc, WI. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Hertha Lindemann Glisch. Emily attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1936. For many years she was employed with Mirro Aluminum from where she retired in 1980. Emily was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church and the Manitowoc Senior Center.

She is survived by two sons: Warren Root, Manitowoc, WI; Brian Root, Two Rivers, WI; two daughters and sons-in-law: Hertha and Bob Marquardt, Alaska; Marla and Rick Meidl, Manitowoc, WI; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one sister-in-law: Marie Glisch, Georgia; one niece and one nephew along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded by two brothers in death: Kenneth Glisch and her other brother in infancy.

Private graveside services for the family will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. David Rosenow.
