In 1975 Jim along with two partners opened the Hamburger Station in downtown Akron, Ohio. The 1.5-ounce burgers, which cost 35 cents were served with onions and pickles on a hot bun
(no ketchup was allowed ~ in Jim's view ketchup did not mix with the special grease he fried the hamburgers in). Fresh-cut fries were also a customer favorite.
Before going into business for him self, in 1938 Jim worked at an early age of 14 for Marvin "Pop" Thacker at Thacker's Hamburgers near Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
