John Walor was born June 25, 1930 in Forbes Road, Pennsylvania to Mary (Yoscovits) and Nicholas Walor. He attended Wichita State University after receiving a full ride scholarship as a football player. He played football 1949-1953 and was known as "one of the best defensive ends Wichita State ever had". He was an Honorable Mention All-American his junior year. After graduating from Wichita State, he served in the Army during the Korean War as an MP.
He was the 4th of six children. He was preceded in death by all his sibilings, George Walor Sr., Mary Walor(died as child), Nicolas Walor Jr., Margaret Gurnick, and Barbara Momeyer.
