BOY KILLED; PARENTS DIE
William Broadus, Wife and Son Victims at Crossing Accident Near Greenwood
GREENWOOD, Ind., July 9 – Wilford Broadus, 11 years old, was instantly killed, and his father, William Broadus 60 years old, and his mother, 48 years old, were fatally injured at the county line crossing, one mile north of here this evening at 6:30, when a Pennsylvania train struck the small truck in which they were riding. The boy is said to have been driving the truck.
The parents were rushed here but the mother died a few minutes after she was taken to their home and the father died at a local sanitarium about an hour after the accident.
Believed Others Killed.
Three small children had been left at home but their hats were in the truck, leading passengers on the train to believe they had also been killed. A search was made for their bodies and the mystery was not cleared until the children were found at the home here.
Mr. Broadus was a tuck gardener and dairyman. He resided in the north part of Greenwood.
