He was born on Saturday, December 3, 1927 in Martinsville, to the late Herbert and Emma (Collier) Champlin.
Jack was a graduate of Martinsville High School and then served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. He worked at Indiana Gas as a serviceman and retired from there in 1989.
He was a member of the Martinsville Elks Lodge #1349 and the Martinsville American Legion Post #230.
Surviving is his son, Herbert J. "Herb" Champlin and wife, Jalayne, of Martinsville; daughters, Nancy King and husband, John, of Spencer and Pam Gilliam of Spencer; grandchildren, Jim Champlin, Jillian Champlin, Jessie Rust, Patrick Gilliam, Emmaly Wisely and John King; and three great-grandchildren.
Jack was also preceded in death by his wife, LouAnn (Badgley) Champlin, whom he married on June 12, 1953 and she passed away on September 18, 2013; and siblings, James Champlin, Lawrence Russell, Earl Russell and Lois Wiley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Costin Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be at Costin Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
Burial with military honors will be at Hilldale Cemetery in Martinsville.
