E.C. Hensley, age76, of Nixa, passed away suddenly Saturday, November 2, 2013. He was born August 24, 1937 to Shorty and Hazel (Keylon) Hensley, in Mincy. E. C. joined the Navy in 1958. E.C. was united in marriage to Lavon Tidwell, June 19, 1959, in Washington D.C. After serving in the Navy, He worked at DAYCO for many years. He worked at Bass Pro Shops part time after retiring from DAYCO. He was an avid fisherman and participated in many fishing tournaments. E.C. was a member of the Kountry Kousins Square Dancers and Jaycees. He was a St. Louis Cardinals Fan and Nixa Eagles fan. He was at every Eagles game when possible. E. C. was a beloved PaPa and was very involved in his grandchildren's lives.
E. C. is survived by: his daughter Janel Harris, and husband Scott; daughter-in-law Mary Hensley; Grandchildren, Riley, Hayden, Mitchell, and Jack Harris, and Ryan Hensley; sisters Gladys Groves, and husband David, Maxine McGlauclen, Jane Hopkins, and husband Ray, Rosa Williams and husband Danny.
E. C. is preceded in death by his parents, Shorty Hensley, Olan Austin, and Hazel (Hensley) Austin, wife Lavon; son Bruce Hensley; and a sister, Jean Cummings.
Burial at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, with full military honors.
