Leona M. Schuda BRULE, Leona M. Schuda, 75, a longtime Brule resident, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at her daughter's home in Bellevue, after losing her struggle to cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala. Fred Davis of the North Platte World Wide Church of God will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service. The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The casket will not be open.

Mrs. Schuda was born June 1, 1932, at her family's rural home in Sherman County, the first born of Victor and Balbina (Grudzinski) Kosmicki.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Ann Garrett in 1984.

As a child, Leona attended rural Sherman County and Loup City schools. Later, she was employed by Ray McFadden as a housekeeper and worked at other jobs as well.

On Dec. 28, 1955, Leona married Bill (C.S.) Schuda at St. MaryÕs Catholic Church in Rockville. They lived in Ogallala until 1957, when they moved to Brule, where they have lived for the past 51 years. Leona worked for Goodall Electric and later for TRW in Ogallala. She retired after 25 years of employment at TRW while supporting Bill in farming since 1976.

Leona is remembered warmly for her deep faith, her bountiful garden, and her love of family. As much as she will be missed, she was well prepared for this time.
Preceding her in death are her parents; a granddaughter, Mary Cathryn Grange, in 1987; and a brother, Marion (Laverne) Kosmicki.
Memorials may be directed to the Worldwide Church of God of North Platte, or to Brule Fire and Rescue Squad.
