Otto Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Aas, pioneer resident of Moe township passed away at his home in Moe on July 24, 1941 at 6 a.m. Mr. Johnson was born in Oslo, Norway March 24, 1864 and was at the time of his death 77 years, 4 months. When he was five years of age he emigrated to America and his parents settled in Jefferson Prairie, Wis. This was their home for three years when they came to Douglas county and settled in Moe township, where they acquired a farm, which later became the farm of their son Otto, and which has since been his home. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Norway and was confirmed by Rev. Stastad in West Moe. Mr. Johnson was a faithful member of the West Moe church until his death. On November 18, 1913 he was united in marriage to Anna Ronning who survives. The union of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson was blest with four children, 3 of whom survive, as follows Alice (Mrs. Anton Sletto) Alexandria, Philip and Clifford at home. He is also survived by 2 step-sons and 2 step-daughters: Margaret (Mrs. Phillip Foslien) of Minneapolis; Einer of Parkers Prairie; Annie (Mrs. Henry Thorson) of Moe and Carl of Moe. One daughter Pearl passed away in infancy. One sister, Mrs. O. K. Amlie of Brandon and thirteen grandchildren are left to mourn his loss. Mrs. Johnson was a kind and loving father, of a quiet disposition and was always lending a helpful hand and very active as a church member. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 27 at 2 from the residence and 2:30 from the West Moe church; Rev. A. T. Tjornhom officiating. Interment was made in the West Moe cemetery. Pallbearers were Theodore Foslien, Steiner Foslien, Lawrence Challey, George Botner, Herman Anderson and Frank Foslien.
