Mrs. Mary A. Wilcox Merritt, widow of the late Sherwood S. Merritt, died at her home on East Main street Tuesday afternoon, aged 72 years. She was the daughter of the late Whitman Wilcox and was born south of the village in the town of Norwich, March 27th, 1827. Her entire life has been spent in this town. In 1851 she was married to the late Sherman S. Merritt. Two children were born to them-George S., who died in 1892 and Whitman W., who survives his mother and who has been her constant attendant and tender nurse during the past year, during all of which she has been confined to her home. Mrs. Merritt was an attendant at the Emmanuel church and when her health permitted was active in the work of the society. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. Rev.
