John was born July 3, 1936 in Fairview, Pennsylvania, the son of John T. and Pauline Waisley Hook. He graduated from Fairview High School and Grove City College. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy and retired with the rank of captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve after 24 years of service.
John and his wife were co-owners of Hook's Gallery and Cyder Mill in Fairview and Hook's Gallery Too in Wesleyville. He was a member of the Nautilus Fitness and Lake Shore Country clubs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
John died suddenly on Aug 14, 1995 at Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie. He was survived by his wife, mother, father and a brother.
