Elizabeth Awdry, the daughter of Captain Peter Awdry Esquire and Elizabeth (Guy) Awdry was born 23 August 1814 at Seend House, Wiltshire, England. She married 16 April 1846 at Seend, Alston William Radcliffe, son of Rev. George Radcliffe DD and Catherine Elizabeth (Brandreth) Radcliffe. Elizabeth (Awdry) Radcliffe died 13 January 1879 and was buried 18 January 1879 in the Seend Churchyard. The service was held by Rev. A. B. Thyme.

The children of Alston and Elizabeth were:

i. Alston Seymour Radcliffe (1848-1907).

ii. George Rowland Radcliffe (1849-1861).

iii. Peter Delme Radcliffe (1851-1939) married 20 June 1906, Emma Augusta Greenham.

iv. Edward Brandreth Radcliffe (1851-1937).

v. Douglas Awdry Radcliffe (1852-1937) married 24 April 1878 at Dunnville, Ontario, Canada,(1) Emily Jane Penny; and 31 December 1889 at Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada, (2) Rosa Britan Machin.

vi. Catherine Rosa Radcliffe (1853-1945) married 30 April 1906, Cecil Spenser Guy.

vii. Georgina Annie Radcliffe (1854-1854).

viii. Reginald Shield Radcliffe (1857-1941) married 6 June 1890 at Mount Forest, Ontario, Canada, Isabel Ruth Smith.

ix. Charles Elwin Seymour Radcliffe (1857-1946) married in 1909, Anna Lockridge.

x. Octavius Goldney Radcliffe (1859-1940).
