Mennie Odell Adamson, 90, of Marked Tree, AR. died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR., one week after having a heart attack and stroke, and being diagnosed with pneumonia.

Mrs. Adamson was a long-time member of Red Oak Baptist Church, of Marked Tree, AR., and attended regularly until entering the Three Rivers Nursing Home in April, 2010, due to Alzheimers.

She was a homemaker, a great cook, a virtous wife, a caring mother, and a very hard worker. Mrs. Adamson worked with her husband, Kenneth, on Red Oak Farm, north of Marked Tree, where they raised their children, and lived from 1954 until their retirement in 1985. She was always an inspiration to her family, as she kept house, cooked, did her family's laundry in the old wringer washer, hung clothes on the line to dry, planted and picked her garden, helped with hog butchering and rendering, tended her chickens, gathered the eggs, chopped cotton during the summer, picked cotton during the fall, and even found the time to keep track of her children.

Mrs. Adamson was a mother of four, a grandmother of eight, a great-grandmother of ten, and great-great grandmother of one.

Odell was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Neal Adamson and her son, Larry Neal Adamson of Marked Tree, AR.; her parents, John David Davis and Annie Mae Young Davis of Lavy, TN.; her brother, William Franklin (Buddy) Davis of TN.; her sisters, Ella Maye Davis Hooper of Memphis, TN., Beulah L. Davis (Doodie) Cryer of Bolivar, TN., and Mary Ann Davis Cofer of Memphis, TN.

Survivors include her two daughters, Elizabeth Buffington (Henry) of St. Augustine, FL., and Linda Gilbert (Jimmy) of Hardy, AR.; her son, Dennis Adamson (Cindy) of Marked Tree, AR.; a sister, Lillie Belle Davis Wally Jackson of Bolivar, TN.; a niece, Pauline Parker Tranham of Eades, TN., and a nephew, Joe Wayne Parker of Bolivar, TN., who were both raised as siblings; eight grandchildren, Paula C. Adamson, Tandora A. Miller, Pamela C. Freeman, David W. Adamson, Brad N. Tucker, Scott R. Gilbert, Matthew F. Adamson, and Daniel F. Adamson; ten great-grandchildren, Angelica J. Marquis, Brandon N. Adamson, M. Brennan Freeman, Nathaniel S. Miller, Virginia B. Miller, Arron Adamson, Tristen J. Adamson, C. Jade Adamson, Katelynn Adamson, and Asia Brown; and one great-great granddaughter, Adelyn Marquis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mrs. Adamson's viewing, and funeral services took place in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Deaton officiating. Her burial, on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, was in the Marked Tree Cemetery, where she was laid to rest next to her husband, Kenneth, and son, Larry.

Mrs. Adamson's death announcement was printed in the Jonesboro Sun, November 7, 2013.
