Gloria M. Dobbin, age 77 of Marinette, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on December 14, 2008 in Verona, WI while she was visiting her daughter. She was born September 2, 1931 in Menominee, MI to Martin and Nellie (Reber) Nelson.
She spent her entire life in this area, residing in the only house she had ever lived in, which was built by her father. A graduate of Marinette High School in 1949, she worked at the former F.W. Woolworth store in Marinette.
On September 4, 1954, she married Clayton J. Dobbin and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1986. Remaining at home to raise her family, she later was employed for 17 years at Northland Lutheran Retirement Community as Activity Director at The Luther Home. Before and since her employment, she had volunteered many years of service to Luther Home. A devoted member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, she served on the Church Council, still sang in the choirs, taught Sunday school and served on many other church boards and committees. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter B; the Sons of Norway; Lady Elk's and the former Peshtigo Point Club.
Surviving are two children: David (Debbie) Fisher-Dobbin of Sydney, Australia and Kathleen (Rich) Ludt of Verona, WI;
two granddaughters;
three step-grandchildren;
a brother-in-law Robert Zutter of Marinette, WI and his daughter Jean (Rob) Todzy of Porterfield.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Zutter.
