Maurice L. Armstrong, 61, of rural Springville, died Thursday in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
He was born April 28, 1906, near Mt. Vernon. On July 28, 1931 he was married to Lucille Slaymaker at the Little Brown church in Nashua.
Mr. Armstrong farmed in the Springville community since 1936, when he came from Van Horne. He was a member of the Springville Presbyterian church, where he had served as trustee and elder. He was a member of Springville lodge 139, A.F. and A.M.; Springville Love chapter 407, OES; Iowa Consistory; El Kahir Shrine; Springville Lions club, and the Linn County Farm Bureau. He also was a past member of the Springville school board and the Brown Township Mutual Insurance Assn. board.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. James Bailey of Brooksville, Fla.; Mrs. Robert Bader of Santa Anna, Calif.; and Mrs. Dale Moser of Marion; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Paul of Springville, Marion of Cedar Rapids and Charles of Walker, and a sister, Mrs. Morris Poe of Buena Park, Calif.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at the Springville Presbyterian church conducted by the Rev. Harold P. Martin. Burial: Cedar Memorial cemetery. Friends may call at the Murdoch chapel in Springville. The casket will not be opened after the service. Friends may if they wish contribute to the Springville Presbyterian church Memorial Fund.
