Vicki R. Hobby Abbott, age 48, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009, after a brief struggle with lung cancer. She was born May 12, 1960, in Benton, Arkansas. Vicki was preceded in death by her mother, Deloris Shelnutt and her son, Jimmy Duplissey.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Abbott; daughter, DeLana Epperson; beloved grandsons, Jared and Ethan Epperson, Anthony Tompkins and Tyler Ryan; step-daughters, Angie (Corey) Tompkins and Deborah Abbott; father, Jimmy (Melba) Hobby Sr.; grandmother,Leathel Hobby; sisters, Wanda (Randy) Hobby Jones and Debra (Mike) King; brothers, Doyle (Edie) Hobby, David (Debbie) Hobby and Chief (Terry) Waters and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws, James and Ann Abbott and family.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Abbott, Gary Hobby, James Melvin, Joshua Melvin, David Hobby and Dennis Hensley. Honorary pallbearer will be Jared Epperson.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Ashby Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 15 at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis. Bro. Ed Chastain will be officiating.

Family Comments: She loved her family and always let them know it. She was a wonderful Mimi to her grandsons and found great pleasure in their company. She was of the Baptist faith and placed her faith and life in the hands of God, who welcomed her into his loving arms.
