A Junior in High School, Brendan was a resident of the Wichita Falls area.

He passed of Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, a rare disorder of the immune system primarily affecting young infants and children.

Brendan lingered for three months after becoming ill with what was originally thought to be Mono, and for one month after receiving the diagnosis of HLH at Cook's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. He struggled valiantly to recover, with parents at his side during that last month, but the disease was overwhelming.

Although physicians have written about the disorder over the years, it has been only in the last few years that it has received widespread attention. The prevalence of HLH is 1.2 in every 1,000,000 children under the age of 15.

Brendan is survived by his parents, Angel & Don Cage, and Darel Ervin; older sister, Bethany; younger brother, Reg (Little Man); Godparents, Selena Schmidt and Michael Hankins and their spouses.

He was dearly loved by many and will forever be missed by those with who he shared his life.
