Blake Allen Barbour was born in Kingman to Greg and Susan Barbour on April 22, 1970. His life was taken away at the age of 43 in Kingman on Aug. 16, 2013.
Blake grew up a happy, well-loved child. He was raised in Arizona and California, and attended school in both states. He graduated from Mohave County Union High School. Having been raised in both states, he had a love of the desert and the ocean, as well as the lakes and the Colorado River. Blake's passion has always been fishing and motorcycle riding. He and his dad spent many hours riding in the desert together. He loved cars and motorcycles, and could fix anything with an engine in it.
He was an electrician by trade and had recently attended Mohave Community College and received his CLD/HAZMAT Certification. He loved to travel and in recent years he visited Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines. He also loved his family and always returned to his home in Kingman.
Blake had the kindest of hearts and generosity in his spirit, and cultivated many friends in his life. He was known to drop any task to rush to the aid of any friend needing his assistance. He also was compassionate for people who were downtrodden and less fortunate, and many times he would bring them home with him. Often he would stop and buy food and drink for anyone needing sustenance. It has often been said of Blake that he would give you the shirt off his back or the last dime in his pocket if you needed it.
Blake was preceded in death by his father, Greg Barbour; his paternal grandfather, Chuck Barbour; his maternal grandfather, Carl Lee Griffith Sr., as well as his uncle, Carl Lee (Bud) Griffith Jr. He is survived by his mother, Susan Barbour; his grandmothers, Billie Jean Griffith and Patricia Barbour; a half sister, Autumn Miller; his aunts, Nancy Griffith Terhaar, Linda Fitzgerald and Valerie Barbour; and an uncle, Allen Barbour, in addition to his cousins, friends and extended family who loved him dearly and cherish his memory.
Blake will be remembered for his laugh and sense of humor, his beautiful smile, his generosity of spirit and for his big heart. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
A celebration of his life is currently being planned.
