Benjamin Anthony Breen, 92, of Cedar Lake, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. He was born July 30, 1921 in Coopersville, MI, the thirteenth child of thirteen children to John G. and Grace (Timmer) Breen. He was raised in the Coopersville area and attended the McDearman County School.

On August 12, 1941, Benjamin married Miss Erma Marie Root in Coopersville. He was a life-long area farmer who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Cedar Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Erma; daughters: Wavajean (Marvin) Watkins of Cedar Lake, Sylvia Bovee of Ashley, Cynthia (Dean) Voss of Cedar Lake, Miriam (Ken) Henson of Cedar Lake; son-in-law David (Lisa) Bendler of Mountain Home, Arkansas; sister Margie Stelter; brother Peter (Pauline) Breen of Jenison; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Bendler.

Funeral services for Benjamin will be Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church, 7260 N. Academy Road, with Pastor Oscar Montes and Pastor Phil Mills officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson St., Edmore, MI and from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Great Lakes Academy Worthy Student Fund. Interment in Cedar Lake Cemetery.
