Mrs. Annie Holmes, 93, of Caribou died Tuesday, Oct. 1 at a Caribou hospital after a lingering illness.

The daughter of Edward and Rose Ellen (Levesque) Holmes, she was born in Carleton County, N.B. April 18, 1871. Mrs. Holmes was the widow of Albert G. Holmes. She had been a resident of Caribou for 88 years.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by three sons, Oran of Easton, Bernie of Caribou and Edward of South Berwick; two daughters, Mrs Eunice Thompson of East Corinth and Mrs. Floyd (Ivey) Parker of Caribou; three brothers, Harry of Wells, Bert of Skowhegan and Herbert of Caribou; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brown of Caribou and Mrs. Susan Gee of Millinocket; 30 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Friends called at the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home in Caribou Wednesday, Oct. 2 and funeral services were held there Thursday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Read Blackstone officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Harold Beesley.

Pallbearers were Oran Holmes Jr., Galen Holmes, Garvis Holmes, Dwight Holmes, Larry Holmes and Douglas Holmes. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
