Daughter Malinda's death record in Illinois indicates that Malinda's mother's maiden name was Richards, so Nancy would be Nancy Richards Acklin. Son Samuel's death record in Illinois (under the spelling Samuel "Acklen") also says his mother was Nancy Richards.

Nancy's son Caleb Acklin, born abt 1841, served in Company D, 11th Ohio Cavalry in the Civil War. He enlisted 12 Oct 1861 and received a disability discharge on 7 Feb 1863 in Fort Leavenworth, KS. His wife was Mary M "Mollie" Ross Acklin. They were in Palestine, Crawford Co, IL, in the 1870 census. He was listed as "Calob Acklin" in Clinton Co, OH, in the 1880 census but has not been found thereafter. His wife is probably the Mary M Acklin born 1844 whose F.A.G. memorial #19380521 shows burial in Springfield, Clark Co, OH. Where is Caleb buried? He was recognized for Distinguished Service. Caleb's son John Murray Acklin (born 31 Mar 1866, Lynchburg, Highland Co, OH) died 19 Jul 1940, Lawrence, Van Buren Co, MI; the name on the death record was "Murray Acklin."
