Mr. Westbrooks was born March 24, 1937 in Trion, GA, the son of the late Samuel Robert Westbrooks and Lois Golden Westbrooks. He had worked at Mt. Vernon Mills and Wometco Vending. He was later self employed as an auto body mechanic. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Westbrooks was a member of the Odd Fellows Unity Lodge#3, the American Legion Post 130; and the VFW Post 6688. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Freddie Westbrooks and Doug Westbrooks; sister, Martha Sue Hensley, and a grandson, Dartey Ford.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Butch Cordle, and Beverly and Olin Ford; brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Ruthie Westbrooks; grandchildren, Brandi & Todd Buchanan, Butch, JR and Deedee Cordle, Dustin Starkey, Dylan and Rachael Ford; and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Shores and Bro. Jim Westbrooks officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites to be conducted by the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be members of the VFW and the American Legion. Honorary pallbearers will be Nieces, Nephews, members of Odd Fellow Unity Lodge #3, and Lebron McWhorter.
Mr. Westbrooks will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013.
