A book by David Maisel and a documentary by Ondi Timoner & Robert James, both entitled "Library of Dust" also provide more information.

His death certificate indicates was born in Sweden about 1844. He was a single sailor living in the coastal town of Marshfiled, Oregon (currently Coos Bay) prior to coming to the state hospital. Charles Anderson is a common name of Swedish men who were working in the fishery industry.

He entered the "Oregon State Hospital for the Insane" in Salem, Oregon on 8/21/1929. His mental state was described as "senile psychosis." He died at the hospital 2 years later on 7/19/1931 of cerebral arteriosclerosis.
