She was born, the eldest of four children, on January 5, 1935 in Rochester, Minnesota to Dr. John Lester and Erma Blood Emmett and spent her childhood there. Dr. John Emmett was a prominent urologist at the Mayo Clinic.
She attended the University of Utah, where she joined Kappa Gamma Sorority. She also attended Northwestern University and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
She married Harold William Milner in 1959 and they divorced in 1976. McLean, Virginia was her home for many years before relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1986, residing at the Wilshire Condominiums.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various leadership roles.
She is survived by two children, John Kenneth Milner of Sandy, Utah and Mary Milner Partridge of Park City, Utah; two brothers, Dr. John Lester Emmett, Jr. of Vancouver, Washington and Stephen Blood Emmett of Roswell Georgia; one sister, Sally Emmett Hatch of Laguna Woods, California; and three grandsons. A son and granddaughter predeceased her.
The family wishes to thank all those who have cared for her in her illness, particularly the staff of Legacy Village and the Hospice for Utah team.
A family graveside service will be held at the Ogden Cemetery.
