Arthur Rasmus Johnson, 75, died Sunday at 11am at his residence after a lingering illness.

Mr. Johnson had worked as a carpenter for various construction companies for many years. He was born in Wellington, New Zealand on December 28, 1874, a son of Hans Rasmus and Annie Anderson Johnson. He came to the United States with his parents when he was six years of age.

He was educated in Logan city schools and moved to Salt Lake City in 1905 after the death of his first wife, Maggie Passie, whom he married in 1900 in Bear Lake county, Idaho. She died in 1905.

He married Margaret Mary Dornberger on November 18, 1914 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 17, 1940. She survives.

Was survived by three sons, Thomas A. Johnson, Arthur R. Johnsons Jr., and LeRoy Douglas Johnson (serving a mission in New Zealand for the LDS church); six daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Drucilla) Bailey, Mrs. Katie Robinson, Mrs. M.C. Manning, Miss Joyce Delphine Johnson, Mrs. Milo (Katherina B.) Higley, and Mrs. Walton (Margaret) Lloyd; 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Katie Starrow.
