A. MARY BOYD
Miss A. Mary Boyd of Niver Rd. passed away, Dec. 21, 1979, in Geneseo, where she had been a patient, at the Livingston County infirmary, for about three years.
Miss Boyd was born, Aug. 25, 1883, in LeRoy, and lived most of her life in Avon and Livonia She received nurses training in Rochester and was a registered nurse. She followed her profession for 50 years, with most of her work as maternity nurse, in the days when babies were delivered in homes. She was said, to have always been concerned with the well being and comfort of her patients. For a short time before retiring she worked in the office, of Dr. Tracy Swan, in Livonia.
Miss Boyd was best known to many young people, as Aunt Mary. She came to live with her cousin Gertrude Niver, and her husband Charles, on Niver Rd., and helped them in the care of many young boys, who were foster children from Monroe County. She also was a girls 4-H leader, and worked in the church school at the South Livonia Congregational UCC. At the time of her death she was the oldest member of that church.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services with John Stratton conducting, were held at the Brown-Drowne funeral home in Livonia, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m. Interment was at Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Livonia. Memorials may be made to the Livonia Ambulance Fund.
