Peyton Randolph Holt was born in Landgrove, Vermont on August 14, 1847, the son of Harvey P. and Demy (Wiley) Holt.
He married in Weston on February 6, 1868 Jenny C. Sterling, a native of Weston. They had three children, Franklin Harvey, Eva Jennie (Married Ray Storrs Dowe) and Ray Wiley.
Peyton owned a general store for many years.
Later in life he removed with his wife to live with their daughter Eva (Holt) Dowe in Medford, Massachusetts. They returned to Vermont shortly before their deaths.
Peyton died in Ludlow, on June 22, 1933 of Intestinal Cancer. He was 85.
