Alan J. Colborn died peacefully at his home in Hesston, Kansas on November 11, 2013.  He was born January 16, 1955  in Newton, Kansas to Peg and Don Colborn.  He attended St. Mary's grade school and then graduated from Newton High School. At the age of 24, Alan was severely injured in an accident and spent his remaining years as an amputee, in constant pain; yet was never heard to complain and always had a ready smile and hearty greeting for anyone passing his way.

Alan is survived by his parents, four daughters, eight grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters, two aunts, two uncles, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was well-known and well-loved and had accumulated a host of friends in his 58 years. His daughters and grandchildren brought him a great deal of joy and he was always devoted to his brothers, sisters and parents.

Alan's two best friends were a cat named Lucky and a beautiful, spunky little dog named Jake. The family established a Memorial to Alan at Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton.

Services were held in Newton, Kansas.   Alan was laid to rest in the family plot at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Solomon, Kansas. This son, father, grandfather, brother and friend is greatly missed, yet all are grateful that his many years of suffering and pain are now over. He rests in the arms of the Lord.
