Janet M. Martell, age 74, of 1569 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died Feb. 24, 2005 at St. Mary's Nursing Home, Manitowoc.

Janet was born July 27, 1930, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Bishop) Szymczyk. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, with the class of 1949. Janet was employed for many years at Paragon Corp. in Two Rivers. She also enjoyed playing bingo and cards with a very special group of friends.

Survivors include five sons and three daughters-in-law: Greg (Marilyn) Martell, Manitowoc; Mike (Connie) Martell, Two Rivers; Guy Martell, Manitowoc; Tommy (Kim) Martell, Manitowoc; Todd Martell, Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren: Megan, Mathew, Michael, Jessica, Chad, Becky, Jason, Tyler, Marissa, Jonathon, Clint, Adam Martell; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Patsy (Larry) Joas, Manitowoc; Veronica (Mike) Franz, Manitowoc; four brothers: Robert (Norma Jean) Szymczyk, South Carolina; Ronald (Maryann) Szymczyk, South Carolina; Jimmy (Pat) Szymczyk, Manitowoc; Al (Kathy) Szymczyk, Manitowoc; and one aunt: Irene Bishop, Manitowoc. Janet is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Gay Martell; one son: Lawrence Martell; one granddaughter: Lindsay Martell; one daughter-in-law: Mary Lynn Martell; and one sister: Karen Szymczyk.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005. A memorial service will conclude the visitation at 5 p.m. led by Deacon Robert Drobka.

Cremation has taken place with burial of the cremated remains at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Mary's Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Janet.
