DEATH CLAIMS AGES RESIDENT IN MRS. MECHA

Ill only since Saturday, Mrs. John Mecha, pioneer and aged resident of the city, passed away early this morning at her home 2009 Clark street, in the house which had been her residence ever since she came to Manitowoc with her husband forty-two years ago. Death was due to advanced age, the collapse coming suddenly and unexpectedly. Mrs. Mecha, previous to the attack of illness she suffered Saturday, had been in apparently good health but following confinement to her bed, failed very rapidly and it was evident that death was but a matter of days.

Mrs. Mecha was a native of Poland, born May 8, 1842 and was 80 years of age at her death. She was married fifty years ago and with her husband came to Manitowoc forty two years ago, since residing here.

She is survived by her aged husband and six children, Mrs. Rose Stehula, Rural route 4, this city, Sister M. Prudentia, of Green Bay, Mrs. Pauline Ross, of Ripon and Mrs. G.H. Thompson, this city and Ben Mecha this city and Max Mecha of Bayfield Wisconsin. Sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church the Rev. Kublskewski officiating. Mrs. Mecha was a member of the Rosary society and for years member of the congregation.
