Hon. Esek Cowen, a Justice of the Supreme Court
of this State, died at the American
Hotel in Albany on Sunday evening, aged nearly
60. His remains were to be sent to Saratoga
Springs (his home) for interment. The Legislature
unanimously passed resolutions of profound regret
and sympathy, and voted to wear
mourning for thirty days.
No other business of importance was transacted
in either House on Monday.
